Cuanza-Norte records an increase in tourist visits

Ndalatando - Four thousand and 467 tourists, including nationals and foreigners, visited the province of Cuanza-Norte, from April 2023 to the present date, representing an increase of three thousand and 46 visitors, compared to the year 2022, according to data from the Service of Migration and Foreigners (SME).

According to the SME, which celebrated 48 years of its institutionalization in Cuanza-Norte, the registration of these tourists is done through the occupancy of hotels and visits to various tourist attractions in the province.

In the period in question, the institution also highlights the registration of one thousand and 109 foreigners, controlled in the province, 601 more compared to the previous year, of which 680 had a work visa, 224 asylum seekers, 93 residents, 79 holders of a residence visa temporary, 17 with courtesy visas, 12 refugee card holders and one foreigner with a special visa.

As part of the inspection of foreigners, due to their illegal stay in the country, the immigration services questioned 61 (-26), while 14 were subject to payment of fines, for violating immigration regulations.

In the same period, the Provincial Directorate of the SME responded to 1,97 requests for issuing passports, of which 795 were issued, registering an increase of 552.

When intervening in the provincial act commemorating the date, the director of the SME in Cuanza-Norte, emigration commissioner Alberto João, highlighted the Executive's commitment to combating illegal emigration, given the negative impact of this phenomenon on the economic, demographic and socio-cultural situation. from the country.

To respond to the challenges of globalization, he said, the SME is committed to modernizing services, with equipment that meets international standards.
