Zimbabwean Ambassador to Angola, Thando Madzvmuse David Augusto-ANGOP
Speaking to the press, at the end of a visit to the monuments and historical sites of this World Heritage city, the diplomat added that Mbanza Kongo has a rich culture and history that interests the entire African continent.
According to the ambassador, the former capital of the Kingdom of Kongo, elevated to Cultural Heritage of Humanity on July 8, 2017, was, before colonial civilization, one of the most important and organized cities on the continent, the cradle of humanity.
He highlighted that his trip to the province of Zaire for a two-day visit aims to learn about the socio-cultural and economic reality of this part of the national territory in order to collect accurate information on the ground to be shared with other African countries and the world.
He recognized that countless inventions emerged from the Kingdom of Kongo that spread to different countries around the world, hence Zimbabwe's commitment to continuing to seek this experience.
For Thando Madzvamuse, currently, countries on the African continent are in a process of asserting their identity, aiming to achieve their economic independence.
Na sua opinião, o potencial histórico-cultural que a cidade de Mbanza Kongo possui, se for bem explorado e partilhado além-fronteiras, pode contribuir no desenvolvimento dos angolanos e de outros povos.
“The history of the Kongo kingdom is similar to that of the Monamotapa kingdom, in Zimbuabwe, where some adjacent kingdoms paid taxes to these people”, he recalled.
To this end, he defended the continued preservation and dissemination of the historical-cultural mosaic of the two peoples (kingdoms of Kongo and Monamotapa) for the cultural progress of both countries.
The Zimbabwean ambassador's delegation held, this Monday morning, a working meeting with the deputy governor of Zaire for the political, social and economic sector, Afonso Nzolameso, in which issues relating to bilateral cooperation were discussed .
On Tuesday, the Zimbabwean diplomat works in the municipality of Soyo, having traveled this afternoon to the border commune of Luvo, which is 60 kilometers north of the city of Mbanza Kongo, capital of the province of Zaire.
In Mbanza Kongo, the ambassador visited the Kongo Kingdom Museum, the Yala Nkuwu secular tree, Sunguilo, Kulumbimbi, Tadi Dia Bukikua, Mpindi a Tadi, Busto Negrita, Dona Mpolo's Tomb and the Kongo Kings Cemetery. DA/JL
